Beeson Divinity School was well represented on two major books awards lists.

Christianity Today’s 2024 Book Awards, which honors books released in 2023, honored three books by Beeson faculty:

  • “The Substance of Our Faith: Foundations for the History of Christian Doctrine” by Dean Douglas A. Sweeney was given an award of merit in the academic theology category
  • “The Augustine Way: Retrieving a Vision for the Church’s Apologetic Witness” by Billy Graham Chair of Evangelism and Cultural Engagement Joshua D. Chatraw, co-written with Mark D. Allen, was named as a finalist in the apologetics and evangelism category.
  • “Timothy Keller: His Spiritual and Intellectual Formation” by Collin Hansen, who serves both as an adjunct professor and as a member of Beeson’s advisory board, was named a finalist in the history and biography category.

The Gospel Coalition’s 2023 Book Awards honored Hansen’s book with an award of distinction in the history and biography category, while another of Chatraw’s books, “Surprised by Doubt: How Disillusionment Can Invite Us Into a Deeper Faith,” co-written with Jack Carson, won in the category of evangelism and apologetics.
